Building on the triumph of The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s debut in 2019, Kempinski Hotels has now confirmed the signing of a management agreement for an elevated resort in Ubud, situated in Central Bali. Nestled amid the lush rice terraces and coffee plantations of Tegalalang Village, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud, Bali, stands as the latest endeavor in hospitality by Indonesian real estate developer P.T. Panorama Indah Dewata.
Bernold Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Kempinski Group, shared his thoughts on the venture: “We’re tremendously excited to introduce our second Balinese property in collaboration with PT. Panorama Indah Dewata, reaffirming our dedication to delivering extraordinary hospitality experiences in the world’s most enchanting locales.”
Expanding on his statement, Schroeder added: “With this new inclusion in our Indonesian portfolio, travelers will have the chance to relish two distinct Balinese encounters. This encompasses the beachfront luxury of Nusa Dua and the tranquil hillside escape in the heart of Ubud. Both experiences are underpinned by the warmth and graciousness of Balinese hospitality.”
Set atop a south-facing ridge, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud will overlook the captivating heart of Bali. Similar to its counterpart in Nusa Dua, the hotel’s interior design will be shaped by Rudy Dodo of Jakarta’s Trivium Design Group, who will also be in charge of the architectural design.
The resort will comprise 160 elegantly adorned rooms and villas that will cascade down the verdant slopes, encircling a striking open-air lobby lounge. This immersive space, reminiscent of Kempinski’s sister hotel in Nusa Dua, will immerse guests in Indonesia’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The accommodations encompass expansive rooms and suites, starting from 60 square meters. Panoramic Cliff Villas will feature outdoor decks and private pools seamlessly integrated with the natural surroundings, while six spectacular 200-square-meter Villas will be nestled within the forest.
Guests will enjoy breathtaking views from a stunning infinity pool, while a rooftop lounge and bar offer a perfect spot to relish stunning sunsets over the jungle. Culinary delights await at the resort’s specialty restaurant, where panoramic vistas complement an exceptional dining journey celebrating the diversity of Indonesian cuisine.
The resort will also house a tranquil Balinese spa, offering a diverse range of rejuvenating treatments and immersive wellness experiences, situated at the ridge’s end with a captivating view of the valley beyond. At the heart of the resort, a tropical aviary will offer a sanctuary for a myriad of exotic bird species from Indonesia and beyond, including the critically endangered Bali mynah, also known as the Jalak Bali.
Anticipated to unveil in 2027, The Apurva Kempinski Ubud will become the second Kempinski Resort in Bali, following the successful launch of The Apurva Kempinski Bali in 2019. Furthermore, this marks the third management agreement, succeeding the announcement from last year for The Apurva Kempinski Lombok, set to open in 2027.
Grace Katuari, Chief Executive Officer of PT. Teluk Agung Alami, stated, “Over the last five years, we’ve partnered with Kempinski to introduce new echelons of luxury hospitality to Indonesia, curating a collection of extraordinary properties infused with the essence of Indonesian culture.”
“Kempinski brings operational excellence and a touch of European refinement to our properties. We’re excited to embark on the next phase of this thrilling journey together.”
